PlayStation 3 gets 3D Blu-Ray update in September

Loving your shiny PlayStation 3 with its recent firmware update supporting super sweet 3D technology?  Even though that 3D update only pertains to certain games right now, Sony mentioned awhile back that movie support would eventually make its way to the platform, more specifically — Blu-Ray 3D.

Mick Hocking, Sony Europe’s senior director, announced that 3D Blu-Ray support for the PlayStation 3 would arrive in September.  Even more, he gets a little crazy in letting us know that they also plan to support 3D pictures in the future along with broadcasts in PlayTV and possibly YouTube videos.  Sony is really taking this 3D thing seriously, which is wonderful to see.  So while we will be seeing more games supporting 3D on the PlayStation 3, Sony seems to be bent on supporting the technology in all manners that it can.  Nice!
